Establishment and maintenance of a community association for the purposes of:
developing and fostering community spirit;
promoting organized athletics, arts, recreation, education, civic emergency, social service and other community endeavours;
establishing and maintaining a community centre;
promoting educational, recreational and athletic facilities and equipment for the benefit of the community;
and such other complementary purposes not inconsistent with these objects.
The Corkery Community Association Constitution and Bylaws have been in place since 2004. They were updated in 2022.

Katherine Woodward
President
Katherine Woodward has been president of the Corkery Community Association since 2017. She joined the board in 2014 as playgroup coordinator, and was elected VP in 2016, and then president of the board in 2017. Katherine is a high school science teacher and is passionate about STEM education. She also sits on the board of the West Carleton Disaster Relief as Corkery’s representative. Katherine’s main goal as president is to facilitate events and programming to foster a sense of community spirit in Corkery. Her focus for the next two years is to see the building expansion project through in order to expand Corkery’s programming.

Andrew McIsaac
Vice-President
Andrew McIsaac has been part of the CCA since 2014, beginning as a coordinator of the spring Clean Up Day. He has been vice-president since 2015 (with a short break while Katherine took over the role) and has served as the Head Volunteer/Coordinator/Rink Boss of the Corkery Outdoor Rink since the 2017-18 skating season. Andrew, originally from the Maritimes, moved to Ottawa in 2007 and has lived in the Corkery community since 2011. He is a public servant presently working for the Department of National Defence.

Jacob Milosek, CPA, CA
Treasurer
Jacob Milosek became the treasurer of the Corkery Community Association in 2020. As a partner and income tax specialist at Hendry Warren LLP, Jacob has a strong and diverse financial background. Jacob is currently serving as a lecturer for CPA Canada’s ITGP course and is also a board member of the Ottawa Estate Planning Council. In 2019, Jacob founded and coached a t-ball team in Corkery which was hugely successful with over 40 kids registered in the program. Jacob looks forward to a time post-Covid when t-ball can resume again!

Shazia Hussain
Secretary
Shazia has been the Secretary of the Corkery Community Association since 2021. She is responsible for documenting, circulating and maintaining the agenda and minutes of the monthly CCA Board meetings. Shazia is also the Editor of the CCA’s monthly Newsletter. She works with a team of three writers to provide unique content, which is relevant and engaging to Corkery residents. She was a contributing writer for the Wildfire Disaster Relief Brochure, coordinated by the West-Carleton Disaster Relief Committee. Shazia is originally from Montreal and has been a resident of Corkery since 2017. She is a licensed elementary teacher. Shazia is passionate about horticulture and is a Master Gardener in Training.

Pierre Gravel
Director of Facilities & Operations
Pierre has lived in the community since 1987. He was one of the founding Directors of the Upper Huntley Community Association in 1990, which has since become the Corkery Community Association. Pierre enjoys spending time with his family and participating in many outdoor activities and hobbies, including chasing the ball on the links. He keeps busy volunteering at several charitable and local events. Pierre has been an advocate of safe roads in our community for many years and he continues to find ways to work with the city of Ottawa to implement and promote the most effective traffic calming measures.

Ashley Rafai
Director of Recreation Programs
Ashley moved to Corkery with her husband and two young daughters in 2024 and quickly developed an appreciation for the strong sense of community that makes Corkery such a special place to call home. Wanting to give back and help create opportunities for residents to connect, learn, and stay active, Ashley joined the Corkery Community Association as Recreation Programs Director. Ashley is passionate about building a diverse mix of recreation, wellness, youth, and family programming that reflects the interests and needs of the community. Her goal is to help make the Corkery Community Centre a vibrant gathering place where residents of all ages can build connections, explore new interests, and enjoy everything Corkery has to offer.
